Philly Comix Jam - December Announcements & Events

Hi Everyone!
Due to the busy holiday season, there will be no Philly Comix Jam meet-up this month. We’ll be back in January at our usual day and time (last Tuesday of the month), so keep an eye out for next month’s date announcement and finished pages from November!
While there may not be a jam this month, there’s still lots of comics & art happenings that we want to highlight. Read on, and maybe we’ll see you there!

This coming Thursday, December 5th is the closing reception (5pm-8pm) for the art exhibit that’s been hosted at Drexel’s Pearlstein Gallery since October. There are a TON of past and present (and future?!) jammers whose original art and creations are on display, so this is a great - and the FINAL! - opportunity to check the show out!

Plus, if you show up to the first hour of the closing reception (5pm-6pm), you’ll hear talks from some of the artists on display, including Ian Harker - one of the founding members of Philly Comix Jam!

At long last, our friends at BYO Print have made the move to their new home in the Paradigm Arts Building in Old City! BYO has long included jammers like Mike Sgier, and we couldn’t be more excited to see the new work being made in this awesome studio. Equipment and expertise are available to members and guests alike, so stay tuned for BYO’s grand re-opening to the public early in 2025 to learn more!
In the meantime, maybe you’ll get to sneak a peek at BYO’s new digs during Paradigm’s First Friday this week, where you can also check out…

…the opening reception of Paradigm’s Encapsulate exhibit, featuring a variety of artists whose works feature something near and dear to every cartoonist’s hearts: visual storytelling. See it starting Friday!

As always, Partners & Son serves up event after event for the comics community, and this month is no different. Keep up with them to see what’s happening in the shop each week, like Saturday’s release party for the Pet Riso Studio calendar that includes artwork from jammer Tia Roxae!
See you soon, friends.
